Fuels

Speed, safety and the ability to deal with substantial product volumes are the keys to petroleum logistics. At sites in Ipswich and London (West Thurrock) Vopak have the vapour control and recovery equipment to handle highly volatile fuels.

London also has an automated truck loading (ATL) system to handle in excess of 125,000 vehicle movements every year. The ATL system is also connected to a specialised additive injection system, available on request. Vopaks IT systems allow our customers to place bulk orders on-line. Hauliers can place their individual orders in the same way. This all adds up to safety, speed and security in handling our customer’s business and the ability to provide a high level of satisfaction for our customer’s customers.

Efficient stock management is vital for any petroleum business. Product is valuable, and attracts tax liabilities. Vopak is well accustomed to the disciplines of managing this kind of stock, minimising stock loses, and dealing with the competing demands of customers sharing a commingled delivery system. Customers benefit from the reliability of our stock control.

Storing fuel at London

Blending is a unique capability at Vopak’s London terminal. Whether gasoline or diesel, Vopak can blend fuel components to your specification. This enables our customers to benefit from developments in this rapidly changing sector, perhaps from cost reduction opportunities in the petrochemicals markets, or from the tax advantages stemming from biofuels. Vopak will invest in new facilities to suit their customers changing needs. Vopak Terminal London as a result has achieved the status of the UK’s independent major fuels delivery terminal!

To satisfy demand for increasing fuel volumes in London, substantial investments have been made in a further 45,000m³ of new petroleum storage capacity, along with a second vapour recovery unit.

Further improvements have also taken place to automise infrastructure, and the creation of a new exchange will help improve terminal efficiencies further. In addition two new loading bays, have been commissioned along with the purchase of five new skid mounted additive systems. The draft on our jetties is frequently surveyed in order to assure ample access for our customers’ deep sea vessels.
