Teesside Terminal New Build
Vopak Terminal Teesside hosted a ground breaking party which was held at the Seal Sands terminal in October 2007. The event celebrated the start of the new construction of an additional 40,000m3 of new storage capacity.
The project consists of 8 new tanks each being 5000m3. Part of the capacity will be pipeline connected to Wilton via the No 2 tunnel, bringing Teesside capacity to 287,000m3 making it the largest independent storage terminal in Teessport.
The new capacity is a result of the growing demands for storage capacity in the Tees area, as well as helping fulfill a contract recently awarded to Vopak by a new bioethanol producer.
Despite current difficult market conditions, Vopak is committed to supporting the Biofuels industry and have the financial strength, experience and ambition to invest in new tankage to help manage the new supply chain requirements.
The event proved to be very successful and we had a great turnout with guests coming from all sectors of the industry. Colin Scott Managing Director UK prepared a speech and talked about the expansion and excitement at Teesside, also mentioning the new build project going on in London. London will grow by 45,000m3 so it’s not just in Teesside that is expanding!
